Head Coach Jack Leggett on Hogan: "In my opinion, Doug is the epitome of what Clemson baseball is all about. This is his fifth year in the program. Three of those years he waited patiently playing behind other players. Last year, he received his opportunity to start. He developed into one of the best catchers in the conference last season. His offensive skills keep getting stronger and stronger. He is our leader and one of our three team captains in 2008. I look for him to fulfill a tremendous leadership role for this team."
Team co-captain in 2008...has good power and speed...took the reigns over at catcher after the departure of Adrian Casanova, who started in 2005 and 2006...quiet by nature, but leads by example...has improved defensively every year he has been at Clemson...a career .314 hitter with 16 doubles, three triples, 14 homers, and 53 RBIs in 109 games (65 starts)...has committed just five errors, three of which were on catcher's interference...one of only two seniors on the 2008 team and the only fifth-year senior on the team... preseason third-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball.

2006: Hit .143 (4-for-28) with a double, homer, and six RBIs in 28 games (two starts, both at catcher)...came off the bench 26 times, third-most on the team...had 60 putouts and seven assists without committing an error or a passed ball...only allowed two steals in four attempts...was 2-for-6 against lefthanders and 2-for-6 with runners in scoring position...was 2-for-7 with a double, homer, and four RBIs against top-25 ranked teams...hit a two-run double in his only at-bat with the bases loaded...hit a pinch-hit, sacrifice fly in the second game of a doubleheader against Mercer on Feb. 26...came off the bench and went 1-for-2 against Gardner-Webb on Mar. 15...came off the bench and went 2-for-2 with a double, his first career homer, four RBIs, and a walk against #22 Wake Forest on May 18.
2005: Was 2-for-18 (.111) with an RBI in 18 games (one start at catcher)...had 27 putouts and three assists without an error...singled in his first career official at-bat against #18 California-Irvine on Feb. 27...hit a pinch-hit single against Virginia on Apr. 15...played for Florence in the Coastal Plain League in the summer, where he hit .221 in 136 at-bats (39 starts).
2004: Red-shirted...played for Florence in the Coastal Plain League in the summer, where he hit .271 with four homers and 32 RBIs in 43 starts.
BEFORE CLEMSON: All-state and all-region selection as a senior at Irmo High...sat out most of his junior season with a broken hand...earned All-Region III-AAAA honors as a sophomore...team defensive MVP as a sophomore...named to the All-Region III-AAAA basketball team as a junior...MVP of his basketball team as a junior...named to the Dairy Queen Classic All-Tournament team as a junior...led the team in scoring and charges taken as a junior...was the basketball team's most improved player as a sophomore...lettered three times in both baseball and basketball at Irmo High...coached by Ray Cannady.
PERSONAL: Member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll in 2005-06...brother of former Tiger righthander Patrick Hogan (2001-04), who had 18 career saves, third-most in Clemson history...his father (Mike) lettered in baseball at East Carolina (1973,74)...his grandfather (Leo Jenkins), who was chancellor at East Carolina from 1960-78, helped bring the Pirate athletic program into national prominence...his brother Matt played baseball at Lander...majoring in financial management...born Douglas Jenkins Hogan on Sept. 29, 1984 in Greenville, NC.
