Head Coach Jack Leggett on Zoltak: "Matt is a lefthander who has tremendous amount of untapped potential. We have to get him to be as focused as he needs to be. He works hard and is in shape, but he has to be consistent in everything that he does as far as throwing strikes and changing speeds. He is a player who you would not be surprised if he walked out on the mound every time and was very successful."
Promising lefthander who has been used primarily as a reliever...has the ability to become a starter.
2007: Had a 1-3 record and 5.66 ERA in 17 appearances (two starts)...in 20.2 innings pitched, he allowed 23 hits (.267 opponents' batting average) and 12 walks with 16 strikeouts...did not allow a double or throw a wild pitch...had a 3.07 ERA in 14.2 innings pitched in non-ACC regular-season games...had a 2.35 ERA in March...held opponents to a .222 batting average with two outs, .154 batting average with runners in scoring position and two outs, and .234 batting average with the bases empty...had a 3.46 ERA in 13.0 innings pitched at home...had two putouts and five assists without committing an error...in his first career outing, he pitched 2.0 innings in relief, allowing two hits, no runs, and no walks with three strikeouts in the second game of a doubleheader against Pacific on Feb. 24...pitched 1.2 perfect innings in relief against #17 Coastal Carolina on Mar. 7...pitched 2.0 innings in relief, allowing one hit, no runs, and no walks with two strikeouts against Georgia Southern on Mar. 14...pitched 1.2 innings in relief, allowing no runs with two strikeouts to pick up his first career win against Western Carolina on Mar. 28...allowed one run in 3.0 innings pitched in his first career start against Georgia on Apr. 4...pitched a perfect inning in relief with a strikeout against Wofford at Greenville, SC on May 8...pitched a perfect inning in relief at #10 Coastal Carolina in the Myrtle Beach Regional on Jun. 4...played for Youse's Maryland Orioles in the Cal Ripken Senior League in the summer, where he had a 2-2 record and 1.19 ERA in seven appearances (six starts); in 30.1 innings pitched, he allowed 20 hits (.180 opponents' batting average) and 10 walks with 32 strikeouts.
